Jet Infosystems Automates Identity Management for TNK-BP
Moscow — Jet Infosystems has announced the deployment of an identity management system (IdM) for the TNK-BP group of companies. The project is based on the Oracle Waveset platform (previously Sun Java System Identity Manager).
IdM systems are an efficient and state-of-the art tool that dramatically improves corporate information security and IT performance. Both issues are high on TNK-BP’s agenda. IdM products are integrated with information systems to automate and centralize the management of user accounts and access rights.
"TNK-BP is one of Russia's biggest oil companies. Over the past five years it has deployed over 200 information systems of varying sophistication, primarily for its subsidiaries. Information access management in such a heterogeneous environment is crucial for minimizing any information security risks," says Aleksandr Podolsky, vice president of TNK-BP. "This is why we have opted for an IdM system.”
Jet Infosystems won a contract to develop and deploy an IdM system to meet TNK-BP’s specific requirements. Therefore, the basic platform needed to be customized. During the project, Jet Infosystems engineers developed and deployed processes to manage account life cycles as well as employee access rights, resources and role-based control.
The role-based control model, an important part of the project, is designed to grant access rights in accordance with users' positions and departments.
The standard version of the product is capable of generating reports on account changes, access rights changes and the functioning of business processes. In addition, Jet Infosystems has developed an extended audit system by improving the mechanism for recording events and generating reports.
"IdM projects tend to enjoy strong support from business departments as well as IT units," says Igor Lyapunov, director of Jet Infosystems’ Information Security Center. "We have gained valuable experience in delivering a major IS project that involved a good deal of software development.”
